OMICS
We provide problem-oriented innovations in Omics to address technological obstacles.
Omics technologies, integrated into a systems biology approach, are now at the core of research in microbiology and infectious diseases. However, to be fully part of the industrial value-chain, Omics solutions need to be tailored to the specific processes and needs of industries.
To accomplish this, BIOASTER has designed and implemented the concept of SMART Omics for the application of Omics technologies to your R&D for the development of new drugs or vaccines, the identification of reliable biomarkers, and the understanding of host/microbiota/pathogen interactions.

From description to function
From the microbe to the host response
The Omics hub aims to characterize all the molecular entities present in a biological sample using four approaches: genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. Two principal technical strategies are used:
- The discovery approach, which is hypothesis-generating and based on our most advanced technologies, including 2nd and 3rd-generation sequencing, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
We leverage bioinformatics, biostatistics, and AI to deliver high-quality data to permit better understanding of biological mechanisms or the discovery of useful biomarkers.
- The monitoring approach, which is hypothesis-driven and based on highly sensitive and robust technologies, such as multiplex qPCR, 16S sequencing, quantitative mass spectrometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
We focus on reliability, robustness, and tailored programs, to generate quantitative data for target validation or the assessment of potential biomarkers.
The Omics hub at BIOASTER is integrated with other upstream and downstream technologies, such as clinical or preclinical sample collection and advanced data management and analysis.
Thus, Omics represent part of a global scientific and technological strategy, and you benefit from the knowledge and expertise of a highly-integrated team of leaders in technology and experts in their research fields.
